About

The Cajun Vagabonds play dance music, primarily traditional Cajun and Zydeco, but also a variety of rock, funk, and swing classics. The band consists of four teenage friends and one grateful dad who have played many birthday and wedding celebrations, Mardi Gras parties, neighborhood festivals, and other events where people want to enjoy a dance groove.

The band began when two precocious ten-year old musician friends and one dad performed Cajun music together at a house party. In typical Cajun style, all the furniture was removed from the largest room in the house, the band found its groove, and the whole house rocked on its foundations as enthusiastic guests danced for hours. With little more promotion than word-of-mouth, the band has continued to play regularly for events and celebrations where people get up and dance.

In following years, the young band continued mastering their instruments and recruited two more friends to achieve the full sound and deep grooves they are known for today. All members of the group are actively involved writing and performing music in several other bands but remain committed to keeping traditional Cajun and Zydeco dance music alive.

The band released their first CD under the name The Cajun Vagabonds in the summer of 2006.  Titled “Grounded,” it features a mix of dance party songs from the Vagabonds’ traditional Cajun to their Zydeco and Rock grooves.

The Cajun Vagabonds currently include the following performers:
Dorian Gehring (fiddle, accordion, guitar, vocals)
Jonah Geil-Neufeld (drums, percussion, vocals)
Eli Leki Albano (bass, vocals)
Jake Pankratz Saner (percussion)
Stewart Gehring (guitar, vocals)
